Dams in Mpumalanga dip below 85%

Grootdraai Dam recorded a decrease of 1%, going from 76.0% to 75.0%.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) issued a media statement on October 2, pleading with residents to use water more conservatively.

This statement was a response to dam levels in Mpumalanga dipping below 85%. According to the DWS, the average dam levels dropped from 85.1% to 84.0%.

Several Water Management Areas displayed a decline this week, with Gert Sibande dropping from 83.4% average to 82.6% average.

All listed dams in the Gert Sibande Area suffered declines in water volume.

Grootdraai Dam recorded a decrease of 1%, going from 76.0% to 75.0%, and Nooitgedacht decreased from 79.2% to 78.9%.

Vygeboom recorded a decline from 96.9% to 95.8% along with Jericho which declined from 74.0% to 73.1% and Westoe from 36.0% to 35.9%.

Morgenstond Dam decreased from 74.5% to 71.5% and Heyshope suffered a 0.2% decline from 97.2% to 97.0%.

The Department of Water and Sanitation reminds the public to use water sparingly.
