Sasol puts up a fight against the Wolves
The Premier League begins on April 5.
The first team of the Sasol Secunda Rugby Club faced tough opposition from the Northam Wolves on their home turf at the Sasol rugby field in Secunda on Saturday.
Supporters, hungry for rugby action, packed the Sasol Stadium. The Wolves beat Sasol 38-7 in this Caste Super League game.
Northam Wolves scored the first try, and Sasol fiercely fought back, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
Dirk Coetzer, full-back, tackled an opponent on his way to the try line, a line out followed, and captain Dalton Smit, scrum-half, recovered the ball and sped off to score a try. Coetzer converted the try.

Minutes before the whistle for halftime, Sasol’s loose-head prop, Armand du Preez, had to go to the hospital after he sustained a serious injury. Play was delayed until the medical services were back on the field.
The score at halftime was seven points for Sasol Secunda and 14 for Northam Wolves. The Wolves dominated the second half by adding another 24 points.
The try scorers were Kevin Osborne (two tries), Paul de Beer, Johan Grobler, Marcel Human and Billy Posthumus.
Jafta Gladwell and Tiaan Swanepoel succeeded in two conversions each. Sasol’s man of the match was the hooker Henrico Fourie.

The club has one game left in the Castle Super League against Harlequins in Pretoria next weekend. The Premier League begins on April 5.
Sasol Secunda Club’s players and coaches also hosted the second schools’ training session on Saturday morning, with more than 100 young rugby enthusiasts attending at the Sasol Club.
Oregon Spur gave each young player a Spur voucher with a certificate on the day. The club received great feedback from the parents, and this initiative is making a change.
