The Evander Magistrate’s Court has postponed the bail hearing of three eMbalenhle murder accused to March 7 for the confirmation of their addresses.

The accused, Bongumusa Gojela, Khawulezile Nono, and Aphiwe Mje, were arrested in connection with the murder of Abram Masiteng (24), whose body was dumped in a river after allegedly accused of stealing a television and cellphone.

According to police reports on February 15, officers received a complaint about a mob justice attack in eMbalenhle Ext 21.

Abram Masiteng’s body was dumped in a river after he was allegedly accused of stealing a television and cellphone.

The search continued into the night until officers spotted a human leg protruding from the water near the riverbank. With assistance from a Jelani Security officer, the police retrieved Masiteng’s lifeless body.

A source close to the investigation revealed that Masiteng’s body was naked, covered in bruises, with his private parts and neck tightly bound with a rope.

All relevant authorities were summoned to the scene, where they declared Masiteng dead. A family member later identified his body. Following further investigations, police arrested three suspects, who now face charges of murder and kidnapping.

During the court proceedings, community members packed the court gallery to support the Masiteng family. The case has drawn widespread attention, with the community calling for justice.
