Locals tackle Two Oceans

“What an unforgettable experience, the energy and sharing the road with 17 000 runners made it a day I will never forget.”

Some local athletes tackled the Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town on April 5. Not only did runners from all over the world compete in the half-and ultramarathons, but so did some brave locals from Delmas and Bronkhorstspruit.

Maretha Croucamp, Melisa van Niekerk, Suretha Prinsloo and Tyla Hoffman from Delmas took on the scenic route of the 2025 Two Oceans Marathon.

Participants from Bronkies were Leonie van den Berg and Liezel Nel. The ultra and half-marathons started on Main Road in Newlands and finished at the University of Cape Town Upper Campus in Rondebosch.

Some local runners took on the 2025 Two Oceans for a good cause. Melisa van Niekerk and Johann de Lange from Delmas and Leonie van den Berg from Bronkhorstspruit completed the half marathon to support the ILoveBoobies charity foundation.

Leza de Lange with Johann de Lange from Delmas – both ran the Two Oceans Marathon for the ILoveBoobies charity.

“What an unforgettable experience, the energy and sharing the road with 17 000 runners, made it a day that I will never forget,” said De Lange.

“This run was about more than just crossing the finish line. ILoveBoobies is a charity dedicated to providing free breast screenings to South African women who face barriers to healthcare.”

“Their mission is about early detection, awareness, and creating a real impact in communities,” De Lange added.
According to De Lange the 1 000 runners supporting the ILoveBoobies charity raised R1m and changed 3 000 lives.

“I am proud to have been part of something this powerful,” De Lange concluded.
