Lekwa’s municipal manager steps down
Malose Lamola has officially stepped down as of August 15.
The municipal manager of Lekwa Local Municipality (LLM), Malose Lamola, completed his last day in office on August 15, bringing to a close three years of service.
According to LLM communications officer Lubabalo Majenge, Lamola laid a solid foundation for administrative stability.
“He stabilised the administration of the municipality, building basic administrative principles, internal controls and governance mechanisms,” said Majenge, adding that Lamola promoted accountable and transparent administration.
Executive Mayor Sifiso Mngemezulu described Lamola as “a man of few words and many actions,” praising his dedication, leadership, and the achievements he made during his tenure.
“He leaves an indelible footprint,” Mngemezulu said.

Speaker of the Council, Phindile Mahlaba, also commended Lamola’s service, highlighting his role as a trusted advisor to the council.
“We are going to miss his work ethic in the municipality. He has worked tirelessly to ensure we deliver services to our community,” she said, thanking him on behalf of the council and wishing him well in his future endeavours.
In his farewell speech, Lamola expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community of Lekwa.
“Serving as the accounting officer of this institution has been one of the greatest honours of my career,” he said.
Lamola reflected on the municipality’s progress over the past three years, including improved audit outcomes and stabilised service delivery. He thanked council members, staff, and stakeholders for their support, and acknowledged the dedication of those he worked alongside.
“As I step down, I appreciate the support I received from the council, staff and all stakeholders. I wish the municipality well in its future endeavours,” he concluded.
