Basadi roadblock on N4 celebrates Women’s Month
Female officers played a leading role in the operation, demonstrating the vital contribution of women in law enforcement and community safety.
The Women’s Month celebration featured an interprovincial roadblock on the N4 at the Balmoral border on August 22. The Basadi roadblock was held in partnership with the TMPD, Gauteng Traffic Police, Revenue Collection Unit, Mpumalanga SAPS, Fire and Disaster Management, Gauteng traffic wardens, Department of Home Affairs, Emalahleni Traffic, and the National Traffic Police.
The operation at a strategic point on the national road served not only to enforce compliance with traffic laws but also to raise awareness about women’s safety and empowerment. The initiative aimed to promote road safety and strengthen inter-agency cooperation to ensure a safer environment for all road users.
“Female officers played a leading role in the operation, demonstrating the vital contribution of women in law enforcement and community safety,” said Constable Cathrine Ramovha, the SAPS Bronkhorstspruit corporate communications officer.
“Various law enforcement agencies supported the event, reinforcing the collective commitment to safety, especially during a month dedicated to honouring the role of women in South Africa,” Ramovha added.
The law enforcement officals interacted with motorists, distributing safety pamphlets as part of the awareness campaign.
“The SAPS remains dedicated to collaborative efforts that promote safety and uphold the values of dignity and equality,” Ramovha concluded.
