The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) understands that the final exam period can be one of the most stressful times for matrics.

The pressure to perform, combined with long study hours and uncertainty about the future, can take a toll on their mental health. SADAG is here to help — every step of the way.

“Exams may test your knowledge, but they don’t define your worth. Prioritising your mental health during this time is important to your success, both in the exam room and beyond. Matric is a milestone, not a measure of your value, and protecting your mental health will help you cross the finish line stronger,” says Roshni Parbhoo-Seetha, SADAG Projects Manager: Education.

SADAG is dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the Class of 2025 during their final school year. To help matriculants manage stress, anxiety, and exam pressure, these are the support services that SADAG is offering:

TikTok Thursday: Live support for matrics and parents
This exam season, SADAG is bringing help right to your phone with TikTok Thursday – a weekly live session packed with practical tips, coping tools, and real-time answers to your questions. Join SADAG speakers and mental health experts as they share advice on managing study stress, staying motivated, handling exam anxiety, and keeping a healthy balance.

Whether you’re a matric learner feeling the pressure, or a parent wanting to better support your child, this is your chance to connect, learn, and ask questions live every Thursday at 18:00 on TikTok. Follow @SADAG_official for updates, live Q&A, and expert tips for matrics and parents — because no one should face exam season alone.

SADAG launches a new online toolkit for matrics
The Matric Support Toolkit is available on SADAG’s website (www.sadag.org), packed with practical and easy-to-use resources, including downloadable brochures, matric convo videos, exam stress coping tips, and links to resources.

SADAG’s 24-hour toll-free suicide crisis helpline
Learners, parents, and teachers can reach out to SADAG’s 24-hour toll-free Suicide Crisis Helpline on 0800 567 567, or send an SMS to 31393 and a counsellor will call you back. You can also WhatsApp a counsellor at 076 882 2775 for free, confidential support. Their trained counsellors offer practical coping tips, emotional support, and guidance on how to manage stress, anxiety, and burnout.
