Foreigners reappear in Standerton drug bust case
Two of the six foreign nationals involved in a Hawks drug bust in April are applying for bail.
Six foreign nationals, arrested by the Hawks during a drug manufacturing ring bust in April, reappeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on August 28.
Antonio Maciya, Cardoso Severonio Massuque, Jose Virgina Macamo, Mandlati Beto, Seveme Justino Massuque, and Tito Mathe all appeared before magistrate Sabelo Tembe.
They were the first arrested in a string of drug busts executed by the Hawks’ Secunda-based Serious Crimes Unit. Chemicals used to manufacture drugs such as Mandrax were found in their possession.
The materials were confiscated, and the warehouse was closed during investigations. Of the six accused, two are applying for bail. The bail hearing of Maciya and Cardoso Severonio Massuque was postponed to September 5 to find a translator for the court proceedings.
The case of Macamo, Beto, Seveme Jusitino Massuque and Mathe was postponed to 11 September for further investigation. Only Maciya and Cardoso Severonio Massuque will appear in court on September 5.
The others will appear on September 11. They will again reappear as a group on September 12.
