Sasol CC 1 Secunda clinches victory against Bethal Bears

The man of the match was Pieter Vrolijk, who wacked 99 runs off 64 balls, not out.

Sasol Secunda Cricket Club’s first team beat the Bethal Bears by 131 runs. The two teams clashed on the pitch at the Sasol Club in Secunda in a 50-over match on Sunday.

Sasol went in first to bat, scoring 300 runs for five wickets in their 50 overs. Their top scorer, who was also crowned man of the match, was Pieter Vrolijk, who wacked 99 runs off 64 balls, not out.

Captain George Louw worked at a steady pace to make every ball count. He scored 81 runs off 81 balls, while his long-time batting partner during the match, Nicus Boshoff, scored 35 runs off 51 balls.

Boshoff was on fire as a bowler. He took three wickets for 26 runs. Louw felled two wickets for 28 runs, and Vernon Fourie stopped the Bears with two wickets for 37 runs.

It was clear the Bethal Bears were in trouble from the beginning. They managed only 169 runs before the 10th wicket fell in the 38th over.

Their best scorer was Johan Viljoen, who faced 62 balls and scored 48 runs.

Bethal Bears’ Nijan Swart took two wickets for 31 runs during his bowling slot, while CJ Bakker felled two wickets for 45 runs.

This match was played as part of the Premier League.
