WATCH: Branch committee and volunteers in Bethal take to puddles in protest

Bethal residents have now been without water for more than 50 days.

Freedom Front Plus Bethal branch chairperson, Anelda Postma,  and her committee “bathed” in a puddle of water in Wes Street in Bethal in silent protest against the water shortage and poor road maintenance in this town.

Bethal residents have now been without water for more than 50 days.

The “bathers” also wanted to bring it under Govan Mbeki Municipality’s attention that the residents on the corner of Wes Street and Andries Pretorius Street cannot access their property because of the state of the roads that are not being repaired.

Postma said: “The complaint of the water drainage pipe clogged up was reported on February 2 and the road needs to be filled as well.

“The sides of the road must be flattened to gain access to the premises. The municipality is not delivering services, but we must pay – for what?”

Postma concluded that the water situation is unacceptable for residents of Bethal, Milan Park and eMzinoni.
