Three suspects appear in Leandra Court for farm attack and robbery
The suspects were remanded in custody and are due back in court on September 16, for a formal bail application.
Three suspected farm attackers appeared in the Leandra Magistrate’s Court on Friday, September 9, on several charges, including of robbery and assault.
Two of the men are 29 years old and the third is 43 years old.
They were remanded in custody and are due back in court on September 16, for a formal bail application.
The arrest of the suspects came after farmers, police and security companies were alerted on Wednesday morning, September 7, of a robbery and attack on a woman (60) and her workers at her farmhouse in the Rolspruit area between Leandra and Kinross.
According to police reports, the robbers went to the farm under the pretence of being potential customers of livestock.

They gained entry by breaking into the farmhouse where they assaulted and stabbed the woman.
It is alleged that the woman’s employees were also roughened up.
The suspects robbed the woman of several items, including an undisclosed amount of cash, an airgun, tools, a grinder, house keys, a bag, and other items before they fled the scene.
An elderly man, who was in the house at the time of the attack and robbery, made the alarm.
Local framers, security companies and police acted swiftly to the alert and successfully apprehended three suspects.
Two were arrested along the N17 road while the third suspect was apprehended next to a neighbouring farm.
The suspects were found in the possession of the stolen goods.
The daughter of the injured woman rushed her mother to the hospital, but was met by ER24 along the way, who then stabilised the woman and transported her to Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt for further medical treatment.

Police say they cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against the suspects or linking them to other crimes committed elsewhere as the investigation progresses.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, who is the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Mpumalanga, has applauded the arrest of the suspects as well as the recovery of the items that were stolen earlier during the robbery.
“Working with other stakeholders in the fight against crime seems to produce positive results and it gives us the joy to be experiencing such successes.
“We encourage others to join hands with us in the path of creating a safer environment for all citizens,” said Manamela.
