The trio allegedly tried to hijack a motorist at about 15:10.

Before the suspects could proceed with their crime, they noticed a police vehicle approaching. The suspects panicked, ordered the victim to leave, and quickly fled back into their vehicle.
Captain Johan van Dyk, Tshwane District Communication Coordinator, said the nearby police officers were immediately alerted and responded swiftly.
“They intercepted and apprehended the suspects. The officers recovered a firearm with eight rounds of ammunition. The suspects were unable to provide a valid explanation for being in possession of the weapon.”
The suspects were arrested and charged with attempted hijacking and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Van Dyk said further investigation is underway to determine whether the suspects are linked to other criminal activities. The firearm will also be subjected to ballistic testing to establish if it has been used in previous crimes.
Major-General Samuel Thine, District Commissioner of Tshwane, praised the officers involved for their swift response and commitment to ensuring community safety.
