BREAKING NEWS: Tensions rise in eMbalenhle after cops allegedly kill resident

Residents claim the victim was assaulted and then taken to the clinic in Ext 4.

Angry residents of Ward 20 in eMbalenhle have gathered at the local police station, demanding answers after a man was allegedly assaulted and killed by police officers yesterday afternoon (October 2).

According to several witnesses, the man was seen allegedly being assaulted by members of the police before being loaded into a police minibus, which then sped off.

A concerned community member followed the vehicle to the Extension 4 clinic, where he claims nurses questioned why officers had brought in a man who was already dead.

Residents were demanding accountability and waited outside the police station for Station Commander Colonel Khuselwa Matrose to address them. In the meantime, the gates of the police station have been locked as tensions continued to escalate.

Matrose told the community the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating the matter.
