Bronkhorstspruit Police feel strong about school safety

During the visits, awareness regarding crime and violence and its impact on individuals is raised amongst learners.

The Bronkhorstspruit Police Station under the leadership of the station commander Colonel Maqhawe Simon Dhladhla, in conjunction with members of crime prevention, embarked on a school safety programme.

As part of the programme, the team visits schools in the Bronkhorstspruit policing precinct. They raise awareness regarding crime and violence.

Through the Adopt-a-Cop project, members of different sections have ‘adopted’ schools.

“These established and sustained partnerships enable the schools to have a designated police officer as a point of contact to access services the school may need from the police station,” said Constable Cathrine Ramovha, communication officer at the Bronkhorstspruit Police in a media statement released on January 11.

“The programme will strengthen the school safety committees to curb crime and violence in schools,” Ramovha added.

“Bronkhorstspruit SAPS is committed to ensuring that schools in Bronkhorstspruit policing precinct are a safe environment for pupils to learn,” Ramovha concluded.
