Three rob traditional healer in eMbalenhle

The suspects though their victim had come into a windfall.

A traditional healer was robbed of his car and belongings on March 1 by men pretending to want a consultation.

According to Constable Busi Mthethwa, the eMbalenhle police spokesperson, the traditional healer from Ext 16, known as Mandela Section, heard someone knocking at his door.

The person outside introduced himself as Xolani. He and a friend asked to consult the healer.

“When the traditional healer opened his shack’s door, three men entered. Xolani told him that his two friends are having a problem, but they then changed their story,” said Mthethwa.

One of the men produced a knife and grabbed the healer by his neck, while another culprit tied the healer’s hands with cable ties. The healer was instructed not to scream.

“The third suspect demanded money, claiming they had heard the healer had come into R100 000. When the healer told them he doesn’t have the money, they tied his legs with cable ties and blindfolded him.”

The suspects searched the healer’s home but did not find any money. They fled with his vehicle and television.

The healer later screamed for help, and the neighbours came to his rescue.

According to Mthethwa, the healer knows one of the suspects, but no one has yet been arrested.

Mthethwa said a case of house robbery was opened at the eMbalenhle Police Station.
