Secunda court denies bail to man who allegedly shoots wife

Case is postponed to February 2.

Ndumiso Wisdom Ndimande (33) was denied bail at the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on November 21.

Ndimande appeared in court on charges of attempted murder after he allegedly shot his estranged wife (38) and her six-year-old son on October 26.

He fled the scene after the shooting and went to Baberton where his parents stayed. He returned to Secunda after he learnt that police were searching for him.

The wife was shot eight times at her home in Ext 22 and her son was also shot when he ran towards his mother to help her.

Ndimande allegedly threatened his wife and her two teenage sons, who were also in the house during the shooting, to finish the job and come back for them.

The couple were allegedly fighting because Ndimande wanted the lobola to be returned to him since the couple was separated.

The state prosecutor said Ndimande is a danger to his wife and her children since he threatened them.

When the magistrate Faith Kekana addressed Ndimande to give her verdict, she said: “You not only threatened but promised that you are going to kill them.

“You already shot at your wife eight times, although you said you shot her once. You did not even ask if she was dead or not, neither did you call for help.

“You shot your six-year-old stepson as well. You shot them and still travelled 250km to Baberton. Then you had to travel 250km back to Secunda.

“Even if the court says you can stay in Baberton should you get bail, what is going to prevent you from driving the 250km back to Secunda?

“After looking at this, it convinced me that bail is denied,” she said.

The magistrate postponed the case to February 2 and Ndimande remains in custody.
