Standerton detectives arrest one hitman after murder of Fannie Mokwena

Standerton SAPS had a breakthrough in the murder of Fannie Malpul Mokwena.

Standerton SAPS had a breakthrough in the murder of Fannie Malpul Mokwena. According to police, Mokwena (45) was gunned down during the early morning hours of February 22, 2023.

He was on his way to Standerton from Ermelo.

He was travelling in his white Nissan NP200 with two passengers and when he approached 7k from town, he was shot in the head by the passenger on the front seat.

The deceased succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Standerton detectives conducted an intensive investigation which led to one hitman’s arrest at Boksburg correctional facility.

He was charged with murder and Mduduzi Mcebo Xaba (27) appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on April 24.

The case was postponed to May 7 for further hearing. Standerton detectives also arrested his wife the same day in connection with conspiracy.

Local detectives got information on April 25 and apprehended the second hitman in Tsakane, Gauteng.

He was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The vehicle that was used during the commission of the offence was confiscated as well.

SAPS said more arrests are eminent.
