Sasol Secunda Cricket Club’s first, second and third team won their matches in leagues on March 1.

Sasol 1 took on the Bethal Bears at Hoërskool Hoogenhout in Bethal and secured their Gert Sibande regional title for the ninth consecutive year in the regional Premier 50 over league.

According to Ignus Koekemoer, spokesperson of the Sasol Cricket Club, the Bears put Sasol 1 under serious pressure when Sasol 1’s seventh wicket fell on 115 runs.

However, Sasol 1’s JP van Zyl and Vernon Fourie managed to make 50 runs for the eighth wicket and Sasol 1 was eventually bowled out for 202 runs.

Fourie top-scored 41 runs. Because of rain during the innings, the overs were reduced to 48 and the new target was 194.

The Bears lost their first wicket on 82 in the 16th over and Johan Viljoen batted for the Bears and fell after 68 runs. Ruhan Delport and Nicus Boshoff of Sasol 1 took four wickets each and Sasol 1 bowled Bethal out for 173 runs.

Sasol 1 won the match by 20 runs.

The Sasol 2 Bulldogs beat eMbalenhle by eight wickets in the Premier League at the Sasol Secunda Cricket Club in Secunda.

Sasol 2 won the toss and sent eMbalenhle in to bat first. eMbalenhle only managed 56 runs, all out. Alex Grobler of Sasol 2 took five wickets for 20 runs.

Sasol 2’s Werner Schimper scored 42 runs not out from 35 balls.

Also, in the Promotional League held at Sasol Secunda Cricket Club, the Sasol 3 Kinross team beat the Ermelo Warriors 2 by 14 runs.

Sasol 3 Kinross scored 185 runs, and this team’s Bheki Mahlangu top-scored with 63 runs not out. The Ermelo Warriors 2 scored only 181 runs.
