Municipal management should take responsibility

Why should residents pay for municipality’s mistakes?

As an end user and a regular payer of my water and electricity account to the local municipality, I find it difficult to accept that I and many other regular payers, should be penalised for the incapability of the municipal management to manage and honour accounts payable.

I would propose that Eskom find a way of having these individuals prosecuted individually and have them held responsible for not honouring the agreements they sign.

I would also like to see Eskom play hardball with the government and really work to get results on behalf of the paying communities to have such municipal management removed from office.

We, the regular payers, are all working people who are dependent on electricity before leaving home and again when returning to e.g. fulfil the normal household functions necessary.

Over and above of filing cases against the municipal management structures not conforming, I would seriously request that Eskom investigate and research a system similar to that of the cell phone service suppliers where we can individually purchase electricity form Eskom.

Have the home articulation systems independent from that, e.g. street lights, robots, which the municipalities should maintain safely in accordance to the OSHA.

They can then also be summoned in front of the Department of Labour should they not comply.

Eskom can cut such services without impacting on business and individuals whom are paid up in full with their accounts.
