Young and old enjoy Valentine’s Marathon
Young and old participated in the Valentine’s run/walk.
SECUNDA – About 470 participants took part in the 10km run during the Valentine’s Marathon on Wednesday, 12 February at the Secunda Sasol Club and approximately 2 300 took part in the 2km run/walk of the Valentine’s Marathon
Babies in strollers, pets on leashes and young and old residents enjoyed the evening of running and walking.
Many schools took part and at the time of going to press, it was not yet estimated how much money each school had raised.
The winners of the men’s 10km were:
First: John Thipe of the Nkangala Marathon Club with a time of 00:30:55.31, second: Doctor Zwane of the Anglo Gold Marathon Club with a time of 00:34:00.54 and third: Retabile Maholloholo of the Matela Athletics Club with a time of 00:34:19.53.
The winners of the women’s 10km were:
First: Glenrose Xaba of Sasol with a time of 00:36:26.71, second: Marina Smit with a time of 00:45:31.48 and third: Mine van Zyl from Secunda MC with a time of 00:47:12.32.
The Secunda Marathon Club will be hosting the Lake Umuzi Kosmos 3-in-1 on 8 March at the Lake Umuzi Lodge.
