RC Club on track for Nationals
The Standerton RC Club members gathered to compete in round five of the points competition on 17 May.

The annual competition is run over 13 rounds of which each driver’s top 10 scores will be calculated at the end of the year to determine the eventual class winners.
After some minor technical issues with the timing system, qualifying got underway and judging by the lap times set, it is evident that there has been a huge improvement among the local drivers.
With 14 entries, the 2wd Short Course Truck class has definitely become the most popular and competitive class.
The top three drivers per class were:

Second – Pieter Janse van Vuuren
Third – Pieter Louw
2wd Short Course Truck – B Mains
First – Claudio de Melo
Second – Bertus Meintjes
Third – Wiehan van der Merwe
4wd Short Course Truck – A Mains
First – Pieter Janse van Vuuren
Second – Paul Els
Third – Nick Iacovou
Buggies 1/8 – A Mains
First – Luanco Eksteen
Second – Pieter Janse van Vuuren
Third – Conrad Cloete
Round six is scheduled for 14 June and then all attention will be focused on the weekend of 19 to 21 June, when the club will be hosting the Nationals.
At this early stage, the club is well on schedule to receiving well over 80 entries for the Nationals with 40 entries already registered on the South African Radio Drivers Association’s website.
