Players compete to qualify
Thabo Taljaard and Cheyanne van Wyk both qualified to take part finals on 25 January at Carnival city. Players will be competing to win a car.
SECUNDA – Many clubs from Secunda and the surrounding area took part in a pool competition that was hosted at Marco’s Pool Club in order to qualify for the “Win a Car” competition.
Men and women competed separately in a two group format one frame per round robin match format.
Blackball rules applied for thís competition.
Black ball is played with 15 colored object balls and the cue ball.
The player or team pocketing their group of object balls and legally pocketing the black ball, wins the game.
Shots are not called and players use the lag to determine the order of play.
The lag is the first shot of the match and determines the order of play.
The player who wins the lag, chooses who will shoot first.
The referee will place a ball on each side of the table behind the head string and near the head string.
The players will shoot at about the same time to make each ball contact the foot cushion with the goal of returning the ball closer to the head cushion than the opponent.
Thabo Taljaard and Cheyanne van Wyk both qualified to take part in the finals on 25 January at Carnival City.
The 12th South African Blackball Championship will take place at Carnival City from 18 to 31 January.
Mpumalanga Cue Sport will send eight teams consisting of 48 players to compete in the annual event.
Marco’s Pool Club is very proud to have the most members in the Mpumalanga Cue Sport (Blackball) squad.
Altogether 26 players from the club are in the provincial team.
