Three red cards were issued during the match, two for Phiva players and one for Zone Mavo FC.
KINROSS – The soccer match between Zone Mavo and Phiva Young Stars was disrupted on Saturday after one of the Phiva players threatened the referee.
This came after a penalty was offered in favour of Zone Mavo FC in the second half.
Some players and match officials managed to stop the Phiva player who already got his hands on the referee.
The referee had a meeting with his linesmen and decided to let the match continue, but Phiva’s coach instructed his players to stop playing and get off the field.
During the disagreements it was also alleged that one of the Phiva members who was sitting on the bench, took out a knife from the first-aid kit and put it in his pants’ pocket.
Three red cards were issued during the match, two for Phiva players and one for Zone Mavo FC.
It was a good match that kept fans in suspense before the fighting began.
Zone Mavo’s defense made a mistake in the first half and got punished with a goal.
They returned in full force and their captain, Bafana Sibeko, equalised by heading the ball into the nets.
Xolani (Zane) Mahlangu had more chances of scoring goals, but was marked by his opponents.
Mr Bevan Mahlangu, Safa Mpumalanga media spokesman, said they are aware of the allegations and the two teams will appear before the Safa disciplinary committee.
