Lebohang Matima wins 21km Rainbow road race
All together 190 runners took part in the 10km, 164 in the 21km and 60 in the fun run.
SECUNDA – Lebohang Matima of Sasol Marathon Club won the 21km race of the Rainbow Run as part of Lake Umuzi’s Rainbow Sports Fest.
His time was 1:10,18.
Ntuthuko Maseko of Nedbank finished second with a time of 1:12,26 and Sifiso Msibi of Dumbe in KwaZulu-Natal finished third with at time of 1:20,44.
Ntokozo Hlatswayo of Sasol Marathon Club was the first junior runner to cross the finish line and his time was 1:22,41.
Siphesihle Mthimunye, also of Sasol Marathon Club, was the second junior runner with a time of 1:12,26.
In the veteran category, Maseko was the fastest runner with Dirk van der Heever of Secunda Marathon Club who finished second with a time of 1:24,49 and Freddi Mogotlane of Sasol Marathon Club third with a time of 2:4,56.
The first master runner among the men in the 21 race to cross the finish line was Abednego Shongwe, with a time of 1:39,39 while Sipho Mngomezulu of Standerton Marathon Club finished second with a time of 1:46,45.
Colin Thomas of Nedbank was the first grand master to cross the finish line with a time 2:36,16.
Helena Joubert of Sasol Marathon Club won the 21km race among the women with a time of 1:26,27.
Lou-Ann Smit of Boksburg Marathon Club finished second with a time of 1:33,35 and Wendy Bosch finished third with a time of 1:34,8.
Joubert was also the first veteran to cross the finish line while Raynita Venter of Secunda Marathon Club finished second in this category with a time of 1:50,30 and Dina Prinsloo finished third with a time of 1:53,50.
The first and second master to cross the finish line was Meintjie Jansen with a time of 1:47,19 and Mathi Harmse with a time of 1:47,51.
Both women are from Secunda Marathon Club.
Frieda Muir of Nedbank was the first grand master to cross the finish line with a time of 2:8,26.
In the 10km race, Sibusia Kubeka of Ethikweni Marathon Club won with a time of 31 min 56 sec while Kathlego Moloi of Nkangala finished second with a time of 32 min 1 sec and Kleinboy Matsemela of Sasol Athletics Club third with a time of 35 min 37 sec.
Peter Hlongwane of Sasol Athletics Club won the junior men’s category with a time of 35 min 37 sec and Austin Mahlangu, also of Sasol Athletics Club, finished second with a time of 36 min 18 sec.
Simon Sibisi of SAPS won the veteran men’s category with a time of 36 min 55 sec while P.J. Sibande of Bethal Marathon Club finished second with a time of 38 min 13 sec and Johan Joubert of Secunda Marathon Club third with a time of 43 min 25 sec.
Nkosana Mabizela of Anglo was the first master with a time of 43 min 25 sec and Linda Magqabi of Sasol Marathon Club finished second in this category with a time of 47 min 38 sec.
Johan Makhanya of the Correctional Services was the first grand master to cross the finish line with a time of 49 min 15 sec and Johan Coetzee of Secunda Marathon Club was the first walker with a time of 1:4,37.
Among the women, Ntombisodwa Ncongwane of Evander Gold won the race in 46 min 39 sec while Marisa Swanepoel of Secunda Marathon Club finished second in 51 min 47 sec and Ilse Swanepoel third in 57 min 1 sec.
Busi Magqabi of Sasol Marathon Club was the first veteran woman to cross the finish line in 1:2,38 and Johannie Ferreira of Bethal Marathon Club was the first master to cross the finish line in 1:20,25.
The first grand master among the women was Amanda Thomas of Nedbank with a time of 1:24,56 and Fia Coetzee of Secunda Marathon Club was the first walker to cross the finish line with a time of 1:12,16.
