Christiaan ‘Rambo’ Bezuidenhout makes Delmas proud
An incredible final round kept most of Delmas’ inhabitants glued to their couches; proud to have had home boy Rambo in action on the screen while participating at the Olympics in Tokyo.
Olympic golf player, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, grew up in Delmas and played his first golf at the Delmas Golf Club.
Bezuidenhout, better known as Rambo in his own ranks, finished 16th overall in the Olympic Golf Challenge at the Kasumigaseki Country Club, Tokyo, on Sunday, August 1.
Teammate Garrick Higgo tied 53rd. Bezuidenhout closed with a 67 for a 72-hole total of 11-under-par 273, finishing seven strokes off the winning total of 18 under par by American Xander Schauffele while Higgo signed off his Olympic game with a final round of 72 for a level-par 284 finish.

It was Bezuidenhout’s first Olympics and he qualified due to the withdrawal from South Africa’s top-ranked golfer Louis Oosthuizen.
Bezuidenhout ranks 46th in the world and is the 20th player on the International Golf Federation (IGF) list.
Bezuidenhout won two tournaments in a row on the European Tour at the end of 2020 when he won the Alfred Dunhill Championships at Leopard Creek, as well as the South African Open Championships at Sun City
