Positive breakthrough for police in the hijack-ridden Delmas
Information was swiftly followed up and the truck and trailors were located at the old Shoprite building in Sarel Cilliers Street in Delmas.
Following an increased in the number of hijackings in and around Delmas, Delmas Police arrested two suspects and recovered several hijacked vehicles.
A truck driver was apparently loading extruded soya oil cake at Ceaco Central Edible Oil (Pty) Ltd Delmas with a freightliner truck with two trailers at about 19:45 on Tuesday, February 3.
As the driver was leaving the premises, a white Quantum taxi stopped him.
Two armed men approached the driver and forced him into the back of the truck.
The suspects covered his head and drove off.
According to the driver, the truck stopped behind a stationery taxi along the R42.

According to the provincial commissioner in Mpumalanga, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, a member of the public informed the police about a hijacked truck.
The information was immediately followed up and the truck was located at the old Shoprite building in Sarel Cilliers Street in Delmas.
One suspect was located and arrested.
Police are still looking for more suspects.
During a second incident on Friday, February 4 at about 17:00, the driver of a truck loaded with soya beans, stopped at the three-way crossing at the Botleng Mall in Delmas.
A man then jumped into the cab of the truck and ordered him to continue driving.
A white VW Polo then stopped in front of the truck and another suspect entered the truck and pointed a gun at the driver.
More suspects climbed into truck and forced the driver into the VW Polo.
The suspects tied him with shoelaces.
The driver was later left in the bushes.
Both the truck and trailers were however recovered.
The soya bean load with an estimated value of R260 000 was gone.
Meanwhile on Friday, February 4 at about 22:56, a lookout was given for a white Toyota double cab GD6 bakkie that was reported stolen in Vosman.
Middelburg Highway Patrol spotted the bakkie on the N12 between the R42 and R50-offramps heading in the direction of Johannesburg.
Back up from Delmas Police was called and the vehicle was recovered and one suspect arrested.
Police also recovered a signal jamming-device in the vehicle.
The Delmas Police’s success story continued when on the same day, at about 23:29 Tracker contacted Delmas Police about a stolen white BMW.
The vehicle was apparently taken during a house robbery in Clayville near Johannesburg.
Delmas Police, in conjunction with Tracker officials, followed the signal on the R50.
The BMW was later recovered along the R50, but with no suspects in sight. Police are still searching for the suspects.
Lieut-Gen Semakaleng applauded police members for the arrest of the two suspects as well as the recovery of the two trucks and the two vehicles.
“We thank the members for their hard work which shows that we, the police, mean business when fighting crime and their efforts paid off at the end.”
