Bathobile Masilela has dedicated her life to the development of women

BETHAL – Ms Bathobile Masilela is passionate about the development of the community and spends her life in equipping women.
She is a vibrant, driven woman who is working tirelessly to implement the change she wants to see in her community.
She is the founder of an organisation called Sisipho Sami, which empowers individuals through a series of events that are presented by a broad range of motivational and inspirational speakers.
Ms Masilela was born and raised in Bethal and holds a BA Degree in Public Management and Governance which she obtained from the University of Johannesburg.
She is a committee member of the rising non-profit organisation, The Sibanqobi Women’s Club which focuses on promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles among women in eMzinoni.
Ms Masilela has also been involved in a number of community projects such as ‘Ses’fikile Youth Structure’ which collects and donates sanitary towels to school girls.
The project also provides talks to motivate these girls to embrace education, personal hygiene and a strong, dependable image.
“I am passionate about making a difference in the world I live in, especially in women and young girls.
“I believe in educating and equipping people to learn to do things for themselves which will sustain them for in long run.
“If you give a man a fish you feed him for that day but if you teach him how to fish you feed him for a lifetime.”
Ms Masilela will be hosting women conference themed Lioness Arising Women Conference on Saturday, 2 March at Under Elm Trees Guest House in Bethal from 11am. The entrance fee is R180.
The event is aimed at empowering women to be all they are called to be, and to equip them to take their rightful position in their family, career and community.
“This is a call for women to rise up to that which God has created them to be. I believe that we are stronger together than apart.
“If we come together as women for the benefit of mankind, society will become a better place.
“The event will also be used to raise awareness for breast cancer and mental health, as these are critical issues among women in our society.”
Ms Kelly Thela, Dr Lerato Motshudi and Ms Stha Hlophe will be the guest speakers for the day.
