Competitions galore at fundraiser for Logan at Mynland this April

Vaughn C. Lucas known for his role as Dr Nathan in the television soapie 7de Laan will be the celebrity judge

TRICHARDT – Do you believe your baby is just the cutest little thing in the world?

Perhaps you feel that you have the makings of a model?

Enter one of the competitions planned for 27 April at Mynland, and stand a chance to win some great prizes.

There will be a modelling competition for adults from ages 13 to 28 years, a model competition for kids between 18 months and 12 years and then a competition for the cutest baby, during which the entrants must be between newborn and 17 months of age.

The competitions are open for both male and female.

The entry fee for the adults’ competition is R130, for the kids’ contest the entry fee is R100, and to enter your baby will cost you R50.

Prizes will be given to the first three places.

Ms Tanya van Niekerk who is organising the competitions, said the judges will be focusing on five specific points in the competition for the adults and children, namely how photogenic the contestant is, the person’s neatness and confidence on the runway, style and posture, the contestant’s self-image and reaction towards the judges, and the outfit chosen for this competition.

The baby competition is themed as Princes and Princesses.

The babies will be judged on their general appearance, their presentation that includes the smile and costume, and their cuteness factor.

Judging these competitions will be Vaughn C. Lucas known for his role as Dr Nathan Alexander in the television soapie 7de Laan, and the singers Leonardo, Doane Smith and Pertu B.

These competitions will be part of a day of activities at Mynland to raise money for little Logan Dyssel’s huge medical expenses.

Logan (5) was born with complications and lost his hearing due to several operations as an infant.

His grandmother, Ms Pippa Solomon, initiated numerous events in the past to raise enough money for Logan to have cochlear implants two years ago.

Despite the implants, Logan has shown little improvement other than now being able to walk.

Ms Solomon said her grandson is still not talking.

“We were told that there was still fluid on his brain and that his brain is not as developed as it should be.

“Money is needed to send Logan to a neurologist, for transport costs, and to buy him educational toys and other necessities,” said Ms Solomon.

The event planned for 27 April at Mynland also includes a market with stalls, kids entertainment, and music performances by Jarryd Ross, Charlie Nash, Liza Storm, Leonardo, Doane Smith, Petru B and ShoNeill.

The non-profitable organisation, Secunda Gratis en Verniet, is also selling raffle tickets to win a sheep.

The winner will be announced on the day of the event.

Entrance fee to the event is R50 per adult, R20 per child between the ages of six and 12, and younger children will have free entry.
