Help gogo whose shack burned down in Charl Cilliers

The elderly woman and her two grandchildren lost all their earthly belongings.

The police and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) from Charl Cilliers are asking for donations to help an 80-year-old woman rebuild her shack.

The elderly woman and her two grandchildren, Lindokuhle Mazibuko (14) and Angel Nkosi (7) lost all their earthly belongings.

According to Const Millicent Mqoco, Charl Cilliers Police Station’s spokesman, little Angel lit a candle the night the shack burned down. She took it to the room where both children and their granny slept.

However, they soon smelled smoke coming from another room in the house and then noticed that the house was on fire.

“We suspect the matches with which Angel lit the candle, were still smouldering when she discarded them,” Const Mqoco said.

Everything in the five-room shack was destroyed in the fire.

Const Mqoco said they are looking for building material such as congregated iron and wood to rebuild the shack, clothes, blankets, school uniforms, food, appliances and beds.

The family must also reapply for their birth certificated and ID cards. Documents from other family members were also in the house.

Clothes are needed a 14-year-old boy who wears a size 4 shoe, a seven-year-old girl who wears a small size 12 shoe and the granny who wears a size 38 dress and size 5 shoe.

“We did receive some donations already, such as a hamper from Roots and clothes from Thomas Heights Kuhlekonke NGO, a bed donated by Sgt Photho from FCS and clothes Power Shop in eMbalenhle Mall.
