Couple found dead at home in Terra Nova, Trichardt

A case of murder and suicide is being investigated.

Police are investigating a case of murder and suicide after the bodies of Babalelo Nkwamahlwana Sebopa and Motensani Mahlanya were discovered in their home at The Hills, in Terra Nova, on April 12.

A relative from Kempton Park who was heading to the couple’s home to help them resolve a domestic dispute was en route when he called Sebopa, who claimed that Mahlanya was in Limpopo, fetching their child.

When the relative arrived at the couple’s residence and found no one had answered the door, he became suspicious and requested police assistance.

The police found Mahlanya’s body on the floor with visible marks on her neck and fluid, possibly blood, coming from her mouth.

Police suspect a takeaway meal on a nearby coffee table might have been poisoned.

Sebopa was found hanging in the passage, from a rope tied to the roof trap door leading to the geyser.

A brown T-shirt was placed between his neck and the rope.
