Bethal successfully hosts the prominent TWK Classic and social Polocrosse Tournament

The TWK Classic Polocrosse 2026 delivered a masterclass in horsemanship and tactical precision as elite athletes and rising stars descended on Farm Schaapkraal from May 2 to 3.

Polocrosse players competed in the two-day TWK Classic Polocrosse 2026 tournament, hosted together with the Bethal Social Polocrosse, at Farm Schaapkraal from May 2 to 3.

The tournament featured elite Polocrosse Association of South Africa (PASA) talent, competing across two primary divisions, Platinum and Gold, with four teams in each vying for the title.

The TWK Classic featured a Platinum Division and a Gold Division, each comprising four teams.
Each team consisted of eight players, comprising four men and four women.

The Bethal Social Polocrosse Tournament featured an A division and a B division, with a total of 10 teams participating.

Overall, more than 200 horses participated over the weekend. From start to finish, the matches highlighted a high standard of discipline, teamwork, and exceptional horsemanship.

Several Protea players competed in the tournament, together with excellent up-and-coming young players.

One of the main ideas behind the tournament was to allow developing players to play alongside and learn from Protea-level players, which made the tournament both competitive and developmental.

This was the second time Bethal hosted this event, a great privilege as it benefits Bethal to host a prominent tournament of this nature.

The town benefits from the influx of players, families, supporters and spectators, as well as the entertainment and activity surrounding the event.

It also creates exposure for Bethal, supports local businesses and brings the community together around a high-level sporting event.

There were local players from Standerton, Secunda and Bethal competing in the tournament.
Platinum division:

Nkosi Inc. claimed the championship title through tactical precision and superior tempo control. TWK followed as runners-up after a strong late-tournament surge.

TWK Agri’s sponsorship played a vital role in making the TWK Classic Polocrosse 2026 possible.

“Hosting a tournament of this size requires significant planning, resources and financial support, and we are extremely grateful for TWK Agri’s willingness to invest in the event, the sport of polocrosse and the Bethal community,” said Bethal Social Polocrosse’s Elri de Jager.

She extended a special word of thanks to the TWK Bethal branch, who worked incredibly hard to help ensure that the venue looked neat, professional and welcoming for players, horses, families, sponsors and spectators.

“Their effort and support contributed greatly to the overall standard and success of the weekend,” said de Jager.

She said the involvement of a strong sponsor such as TWK Agri, together with the hands-on assistance from the TWK Bethal branch, made a meaningful difference and helped them present an event that Bethal can be proud of.

About the game:
Polocrosse is a fast-paced equestrian team sport, often described as a combination of polo and lacrosse.

Players ride on horseback and use a stick with a netted head to carry, pass and shoot a ball.

The sport requires speed, accuracy, teamwork, horsemanship and strong communication between horse and rider.

It is exciting to watch and highly competitive, while still creating a strong family and community atmosphere around the field.
