Community invited to walk for a good cause
Walking The Talk Foundation to host fundraiser at Ruimsig Stadium.
Community members are invited to lace up their walking shoes for a day of family, fun and team building.
The Walking The Talk Foundation (WTTF), a local non-profit organisation, will be hosting a 5km fundraising walk at the Ruimsig Stadium on Sunday, November 1, to help Monument Primary School complete its sports arena. The day’s festivities will kick off at 08:30.
This year, the Roodepoort Northsider and Krugersdorp News will be the media partners of the event and will keep the community informed as it draws closer.

Other sponsors include Pento Brokers (Pty) Ltd (platinum sponsor), City of Joburg, Fidelity ADT and Netcare911.
WTTF hosted two previous successful fundraising events, one in March 2025 to assist West Park School in KZN and one in April in aid of Galway Primary School in Germiston.

The founder of WTTF, Dale van Blerk, said one of the supporting partners from their Galway Primary School project referred them to Monument Primary School.
“After seeing the impact of what we achieved at Galway Primary School, she believed Walking The Talk Foundation could make a meaningful difference at Monument Primary as well. We are truly grateful for her confidence in us.”

He added that the school serves about 1 200 learners and that the incomplete sports arena will provide a dedicated place where teamwork, school pride, growth and opportunity will be promoted.
“The structure has been completed, but funding is needed for the walls, windows and doors. This is what our fundraising walk is all about: To raise enough money to enable us to help complete this arena,” Van Blerk said.
According to Van Blerk, the sports arena will provide a safe space for sport and recreation, protection from rain, wind and harsh sun, opportunities to develop sporting talent, improved health, teamwork and discipline, as well as a lasting legacy for future generations.

He said that they aim to attract between 3 000 and 5 000 participants on the day, with the first 200 registered participants receiving a branded cap, water and access to all activities.
“This will be a family-friendly event, with food, refreshments and a fantastic community atmosphere. There will also be exciting prizes to win on the day,” he said.

Sponsorship opportunities
Van Blerk said that a variety of sponsorship packages are also available.
“Benefits of sponsorships include massive brand visibility, environmental, social and governance as well as corporate social investment, employee wellness and team building, community upliftment, long-term media visibility, and positive public relations. A Section 18A certificate for tax benefits is also available.”
He believes this project will not only benefit the school but will also provide a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, give back, and make a lasting difference for the learners.
“Be the hero this story needs.”
