Young soccer player earns chance to shine in Spain

The Florida Albion player however needs your help to make his dream come true.

Nineteen-year-old Jayden Titus is one step closer to achieving his dream of becoming a professional soccer player after being selected to attend the Levante Unión Deportiva Elite Football Programme in Valencia, Spain.

The Florida Albion Football Club left back will travel to Spain on September 26, where he will take part in the elite programme, gaining international exposure and training under experienced coaches.

His mother Melicia Peters said her son has been passionate about soccer since he first kicked a ball at the age of eight.

“Since then, he has remained dedicated to the sport, working hard to develop his skills and pursue his dream of becoming a professional footballer,” she said.

For Titus, the opportunity is about much more than travelling overseas.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to improve my football, gain international exposure and compete at a higher level. I’m especially looking forward to the professional training experience, learning from top coaches and continuing to develop myself both as a player and as a person,” he said.

The selection comes a year after he missed out on another international opportunity when he was unable to travel to Atlanta, USA, for a scholarship tour after his visa application was declined.

“Although it was disappointing, I didn’t let it discourage me. I continued training, stayed focused on my goals, and I’m grateful to have been given another opportunity to pursue my dream in Spain,” he said.

He has already built an impressive soccer résumé. In 2025, he qualified to compete in the prestigious Engen Knockout Challenge Main Tournament and was named one of Florida Albion Football Club’s U19 Players of the Season in the Gauteng Development League.

His selection for the programme is another significant milestone and will allow him to showcase his talent on an international stage.

However, before he can board the plane, Titus and his family still need the community’s support. They are working to raise about R19 000 to cover the remaining costs of the trip.

The family is appealing to businesses, organisations and residents to assist with donations, saying every contribution, regardless of the amount, will help make Titus’ dream a reality.
