1,73kl water go to waste in park daily
Water is being wasted at a play park in Witpoortjie.

A large volume of water is being wasted in Vredenhoek Park between McGrath and Vredenhoek Streets.
When the Record visited the area, water was found gushing from two main sources in the ground in the park. As it stands, no information was obtained about where the water is coming from, why it is leaking or who is responsible for it.
To measure just how much water is being wasted, the Record collected 200 millilitres of running water from a flat surface near the source.
It is calculated that an estimated 36 000 millilitres of water is being wasted per hour, amounting to a calculated 864 litres of water being wasted per day per source.
This translates to an estimated 1,73 kilolitres (or 1 728 litres) of water being wasted per day.
The Record will continue its investigation into the matter.
