In achieving success, 20 percent is owed to your behaviour, says John Smith, founder of Transformations through Knowledge. The other 80 percent involves psychology.

Smith was guest speaker at a networking breakfast at Hirsch’s in Strubens Valley, where he challenged audience members to get their mindsets on track.

“Failure is simply feedback for one to learn more. Nobody is just lucky. Success is learned behaviour,” said Smith.

The psychology of success means that you understand your conscious goals. Imagery and conditioning play a huge role in processing information.

“Success includes acumen, skills, business plans, and actions. This contributes to 20 percent of your success. But success is something which starts in your mind as a way of thinking, it is your motivation and your desires. It requires effort,” said Smith.

He added there is a three percent club and a 97 percent club. The three percent club members are the ones who are willing to take responsibility for their lives and the 97 percent club members sit and wait for things to happen.

“Life is a practice. You need to practice what you want to experience in life,” he said.
