It was a festive atmosphere at the Horison Methodist Church as Ralph Weyer and Elva Baisley said their “I dos” – after 60 years. This couple’s heartwarming story had oohs and aahs coming from the pews.
Ralph and Elva have known each since they were teenagers while they were in the same church youth group in East London. As life would have it, they went their separate ways.
Ralph remained in the Eastern Cape and Elva went on to get married and moved to Johannesburg where she raised her children. Later her husband passed away. After 60 years, in October 2015, a chance phone call led to a reunion which blossomed into love. The two would commute back and forth from East London to Johannesburg to spend time together.
