Dancer receives silver during world cup

Rahil is determined to go to New York

 

Rahil Singh, a learner from Maragon Ruimsig Primary School participated in the Commonwealth Dance World Cup at Sun City recently.

This event was hosted by South Africa for the first time, and five countries competed at this prestigious event.

As a member of the hip-hop crew, Authority, they achieved an overall second place in the nine-to-ten-year-old category, and received silver medals.

He also participated in the Talent Africa Regional championships during October, and achieved a 93 per cent and 95 per cent respectively for his drumming performances. Rahil also stars in the Samsung Galaxy S8 advertisement.

Rahil’s other special awards include:

• Overall first place winner for highest score

• Top instrumentalist

• Winner in the nine-to-ten-year-old category

Rahil qualified to participate in the national championships in April next year, where it will be determined whether he qualifies to go to New York.

“Congratulations! Maragon is proud of you, Rahil,” said Natasha Joubert, Public Relations Officer at the school.
