The man showed no signs of life

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed when he was knocked over by a taxi at the R41 and Gustav Street intersection on Saturday, 22 March.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on the scene at 10.45pm where they found the body of the man lying in the middle of the road. “The taxi that had hit the victim was found about 100m away in a field,” he said.

He added that paramedics assessed the man who had numerous injuries. “He showed no signs of life, and we could do nothing more for him. He was declared dead on scene,” Meiring said.

The driver of the taxi did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
