Hirsch’s Entrepreneurs Workshop Webinars that have been running successfully since the beginning of lockdown have seen hosts Margaret Hirsch and business coach with ActionCOACH, Marlene Powell bring together a panel of top speakers to help entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurs joining these webinars range from well established to fledging, and together they could find ways to help their businesses grow and thrive during this unprecedented period in history.
Founder of Hirsch’s, Allan Hirsch, and top businessman, business coach and musician, Thabo Pitse were the guest speakers at the recent event, discussing a popular topic, Sales on Steroids.Thabo who is considered by his peers to be a rockstar entrepreneur explained that his background and the advice from his mother, a hard-working domestic worker, gave him the tools to get him to where he is today.
“My mother has always been an absolute stalwart in my life. She gave me the confidence I needed to set me free into the world. I always saw myself as a leader and that feeling has never left me. My advice to businesses right now is to make sure you have a plan in your business and in life. This is a good time to modify your core business, come up with a smart model, and test and measure.”
Thabo, whom Marlene coaches, said that he was blown away by her advice and has seen his businesses thrive during this time – including his coaching business.
Allan founded Hirsch’s 41 years ago with a mere R900. Together with Margaret and the Hirsch’s team in general, he has watched it grow into one of the most successful appliance and electronics outlets in the country.
During the webinar he pointed out that no one is a born salesman.
“The key to becoming a good salesperson is to ask questions. Find out more about who your customer is. Romance the sale – get the customer to take the product home to try it out if necessary.
The main thing is to listen more than you talk, that way you will get a loyal lifetime customer,” he explained.
The webinar hosted on Friday, 12 June, entitled Marketing in the New Normal, saw guest panellists Simon Grainger, brand consultant and the founder and CEO of Brandbright, and Melanie Hawken, founder and CEO of Lionesses of Africa, share their expert advice.
