Roodepoort beauty in the top 35 of Miss SA 2020

Shevon firmly believes that beauty pageants are still relevant in today's society.

A former Miss Monnas Jnr title holder and West Rand resident Shevon Pereira, 23, is a top 35 finalist for the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant.

Shevon, who lives in Roodepoort, is a BCom Entrepreneurship graduate from the University of Pretoria and is currently a part-time model at G3 Models. She also co-owns a small eco-friendly business called Route Products. She has an older brother and says South Africa, Portugal, England and the Netherlands form a huge part of her heritage. She admires Meghan Markle and says one of her biggest passions is dancing.

The one thing she would like to see in the country is the alleviation of poverty.

Which one of the former Miss SA title holders inspired her? Former Miss World, Rolene Strauss.

“She is a strong woman of faith whose beauty radiates from inside out. As a young girl I watched Rolene bring the Miss World crown back to South Africa. This brought so much hope and unity to the people of our nation, and I dream of bringing that exact same hope.”

If she won the Miss SA crown, the one person she would like to meet is the current Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi.

“She is a force to be reckoned with. I would just love to chat to her over a cup of good coffee or tea, and hear her amazing story,” Shevon concluded.
