CPFs tackle common enemy

Honeydew CPF recently collaborated with the Douglasdale CPF in an awareness campaign

“Teamwork is the ability to work together towards a common vision,” according to Andrew Carnegie.

Community Policing Forums in Honeydew and Douglasdale certainly proved this to be true when they recently collaborated in a crime-awareness campaign. The Honeydew CPF along with members of the police and Dougladale CPF handed out flyers at two major intersections on Malibongwe Drive on 27 May. The purpose was to raise awareness among residents about crime and smash-and-grab hotspots in that area.

Honeydew CPF communications officer, Michael Steyn said they shared tips with motorists on driving and approaching the intersection:

• Lock your vehicle at all times

• Keep valuables out of sight

• Do not use your cellphone while driving or waiting at an intersection

• Be vigilant at all times

• Keep your windows closed at all times, especially when approaching an intersection

“It was great doing an awareness campaign with our neighbouring CPF as it also shows that collaboration between us brings greater awareness to the residents. This is the first of many, and we will most certainly be doing more of these awareness campaigns,” Steyn said.

The Honeydew CPF is always looking for more patrollers, and community members are encouraged to join the organisation.
