How to report issues to the City of Johannesburg

Reporting a municipal service issue can be a tedious task, but it is something that needs to be done – if an issue is not reported, it cannot be dealt with.

Reporting a municipal service issue can be a tedious task, but it is something that needs to be done. While the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is responsible for resolving any issues citizens may be experiencing, they cannot do this unless the issue is reported and they are made aware.

The Record/ Northsider is hoping to make it easier for our readers to report any service delivery issues they may be experiencing.

Keep in mind:
• Make sure you have all the required information before calling. (You will need your municipal account number, postal address, identity number, and details of the query)
• It is important to make sure that you are giving the City as much information as possible when you report an issue so they can resolve it effectively
• When calling, remember to ask for a call reference number, and include this number when following up on your query, to prevent duplicate queries being logged
• The City communicates updates on your query via SMS, telephonic communications and email, so it is imperative that your contact details are correct
• If your Pikitup refuse bin has been stolen, make sure you have reported the issue to the police and obtained a case number. You will need the case number when requesting a new bin
