Loss of faith in the process creates a deteriorating cycle that yields declining results.
Roodepoort Police have received information that several dogs in two Lindhaven streets have fallen victim to poisoning attacks during the night of June 21. Police are following up on the information and are encouraging the owners of these dogs to please report the incidents to Roodepoort Police as soon as possible. Without a formal police report, resources cannot be assigned to fully investigate any incident.
Opening criminal cases is vital, not only for investigative purposes, but to compile statistics that help police identify trends and crime hotspots. “The public are urged to please report any dog poisoning incidents as our mission is to find the perpetrators and remove criminal elements from the streets,” said Roodepoort Police spokesperson, Captain Juanita Yorke.
Dog poisonings can be precursors to house robberies, and opening cases alert police to possible impending dangers. Information on possible suspects, suspicious persons or criminal activity can be reported to the Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111, or by using the My Saps app. “All cases must be opened in person at the station,” clarified Captain Yorke.
