Okae Molao Operations in the West Rand District resulted in the arrest of more than 130 suspects from Friday, June 18 to Sunday, June 20. The police were joined by other law-enforcement agencies such as the CPF when conducting road blocks, vehicle checks, raiding suspects, enforcing the Disaster Management Act 57 of 2002, and enforcing compliance from liquor outlets.
Corporate communications officer for the West Rand District Police, Sergeant Linkie Lefakane said, “Members from the West Rand District continue to squeeze the breeding spaces of criminals in a bid to ensure the safety and security of all the inhabitants.”
A total of 139 suspects were arrested for numerous crimes such as murder, house robberies, rape, possession of unlicensed firearm, assault, and other major crimes. “Minor offences such as undocumented persons and shoplifting were also policed,” Lefekane added.
The West Rand District Police commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana thanked and commended all the members for their service. “Let us keep striving to make the West Rand a better place to live in. We must make criminals feel the pressure to move out rather than feel comfortable in our areas,” he concluded.
