Blue light robbers nabbed near Cradlestone Mall

The suspects were found in possession of police equipment including handcuffs, blue lights and two unlicensed firearms as well as ammunition.

On Thursday, November 11 three blue light robbers were arrested near Cradlestone Mall after information was received about suspicious people driving a Golf 7 fitted with blue lights.

Reports indicate that members of the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section with the assistance of Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Highway Patrol, Gauteng Traffic Saturation Unit, Bad Boy Security, Tracker Connect and ICB Insurance Crime Bureau acted on the information received from the GP Crime Intelligence Collection team.

Colonel Katlego Mogale from the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation confirmed to the Northsider that three suspects aged 34, 35 and 36 were arrested this morning on Hendrik Potgieter Road near Muldersdrift in an intelligence-driven operation.

“The suspects were spotted on Hendrik Potgieter Road and were cornered by the team,” said Mogale.

Further information revealed that the suspects have been terrorising law-abiding citizens in Gauteng, Free State, North West and other neighbouring provinces.

The suspects were found in possession of police equipment including handcuffs, blue lights and two unlicensed firearms as well as ammunition.

Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to an armed robbery committed in Klerkskraal in late October 2021.

While on scene, police received information that they had also robbed a foreign businessman in Heilbron, Free State.

“We do not rule out the possibility that the suspect will be linked to other cases in other provinces as well,” said Mogale.
