Water tanks will only be provided to areas with no water

Water supply has been affected in numerous areas in Roodepoort owing to a 54-hour scheduled maintenance on a raw water pipe. Affected areas include Constantia Kloof, Allen’s Nek, Weltevreden Park, Discovery, Honeydew, Zandspruit, Wilgeheuwel and Little Falls.

Water supply will be greatly reduced and some areas may experience a complete outage during peak water demand periods. Spokesperson for Joburg Water, Eleanor Mavimbela said, “We will not be rolling out water tanks in the listed areas. Water tanks will only be provided in areas that do not have any water at all.”

Ward 89 councillor, Leah Knott said the incoming water supply would only be reduced by 25% to areas in Roodepoort. “Residents shouldn’t run out if water is used sparingly,” she said.
