Weekend operations in the West Rand District yielded impressive results when more than 300 suspects were arrested from November 12 to November 14.

“The 312 suspects were arrested over the weekend. Law-enforcement agencies in the District dealt with liquor-related crimes in order to minimise accidents and culpable homicide,” said communications officer for Muldersdrift Police, Sergeant Mulalo Ndou. He said the suspects were arrested for various crimes such as attempted murder, drunken driving, domestic violence, business robbery and rape. “All suspects will appear in different magistrates’ courts within the District soon.”

West Rand District Police commissioner Major General Fred Kekana welcomed the successes during the weekend and thanked all members and other law-enforcement agencies for ensuring that those who are in conflict with the law are brought to book.

Ndou encouraged community members to break the silence and report crime to the police immediately by calling the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or use the SMS number 32211; alternatively communicate via the My SAPS app which can be downloaded from any smartphone and remain anonymous.
