As a school prefect a weight of responsibility rests on your shoulders. At times teachers will ask the school leaders to take on extra duties in addition to their normal studies and extracurricular activities.
Prefects play a crucial role in ensuring that the ethos of the school carries across to all areas of school life.
On Monday, November 29 Agape Christian School based in Weltevreden Park took pride in announcing the Grade 11 learners who will take on leadership positions as school prefects in 2022.
The young leaders were announced during a special awards ceremony held at the school to mark the end of the year and well wishes for 2022.

Leeson Davies and Phakamile Mpekula were named Head Boy and Head Girl for 2022 while Dwayne van der Merwe and Rufaro Mabika were named Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl.

The prefects are Caitlyn Bennett, Atang Dintwe, Zachary David, Rylan Govender and Logan Bentley.
The school revealed to the Northsider that most of the learners selected to take on the leadership roles have been with the school since Grade 1.
On the day Grade 9 learner Lwazi Hleza was handed the Christian Character award, an award that he also bagged when he was in Grade 3.
He is described by his teachers as an amazing, helpful, caring boy with loads of personality and definitely a learner to look up to by his peers.

“His balanced and calm demeanour makes him grow in all areas; his beautifully kind personality inspires others daily.
“The learners look up to him and they simply love him, they say he is an amazing person that they all aspire to be like one day,” said Theresa Jennings from Agape Christian School.
