Nelisiwe entered the competition in October in hopes of improving the lives of those around her.
Local beauty, Nelisiwe Nhlapo recently announced that she is one of the finalists of the prestigious Miss International South Africa pageant.
This ambitious 24-year-old is a former Hoërskool Die Adelaar learner who studied Public Relations and Communication Management at the University of Johannesburg.
According to Nelisiwe she entered the competition in October in hopes of improving the lives of those around her.
“During this short period of time I had the honour of visiting the Dlala Nje organisation in Ponte in Hillbrow for a kids pageant, celebrating young girls who remain in an environment that teaches and brings hope. Then I visited the Epsworth Children’s Village, as I work with our Corporate Social Investment at Discovery. There we were able to deliver teddy bears donated by Vitality, and food and chocolates for them,” she said.
“My passion lies in education and skills development. I love to see how education provides opportunities to young women and men in our communities so that we may close the gap in economic equality.”
She is looking forward to walking on stage with 49 other finalists from all over the country during the grand finale on Sunday, December 12.
Nelisiwe dreams of building a foundation and a company of women who have administration skills, to route them to public and private companies that need their services
“In this, we are able to close the gap of inequality in roles for business, by having more and more women in corporate,” she concluded.
The Record will follow up with Nelisiwe again after the pageant to find out more about her journey.
