Ruimsig school recycle plastic bottles to help others

The school collected over 130 kilograms of plastic bottles which will be recycled to make picnic benches for schools.

The three golden rules of sustainability we were taught as children are reduce, reuse, and recycle, with “recycle” being the one most highlighted.

Nova Pioneer Ruimsig partnered with a Sports Coaching Company, Fielding Dreams to recycle plastic bottles which will be used to make picnic benches for underprivileged schools. According to the school, their learners were very excited to participate and brought packets of plastic bottles each day.

A great deal of excitement was created amongst the learners and teachers to see which class brought in the most plastic bottles. The school collected over 130 kilograms of plastic bottles which will be recycled to make picnic benches for schools.

“At Nova Pioneer Ruimsig, we teach our learners that education extends beyond the classroom. We would like our learners to be environmentally conscious and contribute to saving our resources. We are very proud of our learners and parents for supporting this initiative,” said Nova Pioneer Ruimsig Head Carla Hercules.
